VOLUNTEER WORKSHOPS - SUPPORT THE BULLDOGS
May 30, 2009, 10:10 am
Two new Rugby League volunteer workshops aimed at parents, are being piloted in the
North West
.
The first, “Parents Volunteer Workshop”, promotes parents getting involved in volunteer roles at clubs, whist the second, “A Parents Guide To Respect”, is a workshop designed at getting parents up to date at what is expected of spectators who attend games at local clubs, professional clubs and internationals.
The workshops generate plenty of discussion and help clubs to appreciate how parents can support the club as volunteers. Both workshops take only 20 minutes to be delivered and are available to all community clubs in the
North West
.
The Parent volunteer workshop includes information on;
* The typical volunteer
* Club Values
* Benefits of volunteering
* Club expectations
* Impact of volunteering
Each area highlights ways a Parent can become involved in a club and volunteer just 30 minutes a week to their club and the impact that this could have!
The Parents guide to respect workshop provides parents with information on how they should behave whilst watching a game on the sidelines. It explains about being positive and encouraging respect amongst spectators, players, parents and referees.
Warrington
Service area are hosting a joint workshop on Wednesday 3rd June at
6 - 7pm
at
Warrington
collegiate. They are looking for parents that are not currently involved with our club to attend and hopefully go back to their club with a new role in mind.
To book your place contact Alan Kilshaw,
Warrington
and Cheshire Rugby League Service Area Coordinator at
AKilshaw@warrington.ac.uk or 01925 494624 / 07874308426.
Could you also drop an e-mail to myself,
petermcconnell45@btinternet.com
to give feedback and whether you would like to volunteer for the coming season.
May 25, 2009, 3:09 pmGreat result to complete the season in some very difficult conditions, all the 12 guys available applied themselves brilliantly in some fierce heat.
Credit should also go to Pilks who had the same number of players therefore substitutions were limited, whilst players were flagging in the sun.
It would be only fair to say that the second half was won 6-4 by Pilks
Great attack, including 2 tries, and defence from Joseph Frith earned him a deserved the man of the match award.
Top defender went to Joe Mannion, who's work rate around the marker was phenominal.
Adam Ireland received top attacker for his organisation from acting half back, where he used the ball well and off loaded at the right time to create space.
Ben Legge, once again gave an unerring performance in both defence and attack making numerous copy book tackles and gaining some hard yards up the middle of the park.
Other tries came from Joe Heaton and Jack Field. Complete with 3 conversions.
Finally congratulations to all 17 of the squad who have put in a sterling effort throughout the season, it has been thoroughly enjoyable to watch you continuing progress.
From all the coaches Mal, Daz, Andy & Howard
Have a great night on the 6th June.
Looking forward to next season.

May 17, 2009, 7:25 pmA very strong all-round team performance today by the U8s against a strong and determined Leigh East side.
Most pleasing for the coaches today was the outstanding defence stopping very strong Leigh East drives from start to end and the fact that all the team really got stuck-in today.
Try scorers Aidan Doyle (4); Scott Turton (2); Jordan Lees (1) and Max Nicholls (1).
Top Attack: Jordan Lees
Top Defence: Taylor Clare
Man of the Match: Aidan Doyle
Well done boys, you were fantastic today, in my opinion our best performance of the season.
Special thanks must also go to the excellent Leigh East referee.
